Humalista Desperation

This morning I woke up to this photo of (a 24 year old) Keiko and Chavez on Peru’s television news. Yet another cheap-shot political scam by those opposing Keiko. Who through some Neanderthallic reasoning think the majority of the public is going to believe that Keiko is a clone of her father and that we are still living in the 1990 chaos of Peru’s social and economic conflict. I think this act of asinine desperation will end up helping Keiko.

Here’s is the associated rap. In June 15, 2000 Keiko, as the first lady attended the XIV Summit of Heads of State of the Rio Group, held in the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias. It is in this context that his (Alberto’s) daughter Keiko, as the first lady attended the XIV Summit of Heads of State of the Rio Group, held in the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias.

LaMula.pe issued this afternoon the photo where you can see the current presidential candidate (Keiko) , grabbing Hugo Chavez by the waist from behind. Chavez was pleased with the daughter of one of its strategic allies in South America.

Besides the obvious lack of any nefarious affiliation here, and the politically neutral nature of this social function, remember that Chavez was not president until 1999. Chavez’s despicable behavior and direction were not fully on display until during his second presidential term. During which he introduced a system of Bolivarian Missions, Communal Councils and worker-managed cooperatives, whilst also nationalizing various key industries. The opposition movement meanwhile, fearing that he was eroding representative democracy and becoming increasingly dictatorial, attempted to remove him from power both through an unsuccessful military coup in 2002 and a recall referendum in 2003. He was again elected (under questionable election results) into power in 2006, when he founded a new political party, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.

Looks to me like the Humalistas are desperately grasping at straws.
